Unlock the Secret to Eliminating Food Allergies with Acupuncture

AcuBliss Food Allergy

At AcuBliss, it’s common for patients to experience some form of food allergy. While many people associate food allergies with severe reactions like anaphylaxis from peanuts, there’s also a quieter type of food allergy. These silent reactions can manifest as gas, bloating, intestinal cramps, skin irritations, or chronic sinus congestion. The challenge is that most people can’t pinpoint the food causing these issues.

In Chinese Medicine, we focus on identifying the root cause of these silent allergic reactions. We examine the health of specific organs—particularly the Spleen and Stomach—responsible for transforming the food we eat into the nutrients our bodies need for energy and repair. The Spleen and Stomach have a delicate relationship, working together to provide us with energy (Qi) after meals. If you often feel tired, bloated, gassy, or experience sinus congestion a few hours after eating, one of three things may be happening:

1. You’ve overeaten.

2. You’re having an allergic reaction to something in your meal.

3. Your Spleen and Stomach are weakened.

Often, the root cause is a weakened Spleen and Stomach.

What Weakens the Spleen and Stomach?

The primary culprit is the Standard American Diet, filled with white flour, sugar, and trans fats. Consistently overeating these foods without giving your digestive system time to rest can overwork the Spleen and Stomach. When these organs are overburdened, they can’t efficiently process nutrients, leading to symptoms like gas, bloating, diarrhea, and sinus congestion.

When Food Isn’t Properly Assimilated

If your body can’t properly assimilate food, it may reject it, triggering allergic reactions. Interestingly, food allergies can also develop from emotional or traumatic events. For instance, if you experience significant stress or trauma while eating a particular food, your body may begin to reject that food as a defense mechanism.

The Path to Healing

The good news is that food allergies aren’t permanent. Through acupuncture and Chinese herbs, we can strengthen the Spleen and Stomach, helping your body properly metabolize food. We also use muscle testing to identify specific food sensitivities and recommend lifestyle changes, such as eating 5-6 small meals of mostly cooked vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains, along with regular exercise. By addressing the root cause and making these small yet impactful changes, you can strengthen your digestion and immune system, potentially eliminating your food allergies.
